The Dubai Business Women Council (DBWC) has released a comprehensive report outlining discussions and recommendations concerning the opportunities and challenges within Dubai’s legal services sector, particularly focusing on the integration of artificial intelligence to enhance professional practices.
The report covered the recent discussions held during the fourth Industry Insights Roundtable, which addressed the legal sector . The discussion was chaired by Izabella Szadkowska, Partner Corporate Structuring at Al Tamimi & Company, and other members of DBWC in the legal profession, specializing in various legal fields.
The report highlights the growing integration of artificial intelligence (AI) across various legal fields, exploring the benefits and ethical implications of AI as well as its tools and applications within the legal sector, its role in legal education, and the challenges posed by language barriers in implementing AI technologies. Additionally, the report addressed several other related topics concerning AI’s expanding role in legal practices.
Participants at the roundtable discussion emphasized the importance of optimizing artificial intelligence in the legal services sector and highlighted how AI can enhance efficiency and critical thinking, particularly in tasks such as drafting legal contracts and conducting legal verification, while also simplifying legal procedures and increasing accuracy.
Attendees also discussed ethical implications for AI in the legal field, focusing on issues related to bias and data privacy. They stressed the importance of developing legal curricula that incorporate AI tools, ensuring that future legal professionals are equipped with the necessary skills. Additionally, the discussion covered the cost-benefit ratio of investing in AI tools, particularly for smaller firms facing integration challenge.
Izabella Szadkowska, Partner, Corporate Structuring at Al Tamimi & Company, stressed the necessity of aligning technological developments with client expectations in the legal sector, adding that such alignment is essential for leveraging modern technologies to enhance the competitiveness of the legal sector. Szadkowska also stressed the need to improve the effectiveness of artificial intelligence in different languages to ensure diversity.
For her part, Nadine Halabi, Business Development Manager at the Dubai Business Women Council, pointed out that encouraging the integration of cutting-edge technologies was a major takeaway from the discussion, aimed at securing the future and expanding the legal services sector.
